Our work on Marvel Studios' Hawkeye is primarily showcased in an adrenaline-filled car chase in the show’s third episode. We created an extended shot that features a revolving camera within the interior of the car—for this, we stitched together three individually filmed shots, blending them together and adding details like broken glass and additional traffic, while also painting out a camera rig on the back of the vehicle.
For the car chase, we created a small forest of Christmas trees in a sales yard, animating them to react to the vehicles barrelling through the scene. We also created effects for Hawkeye’s arrows, including purple putty, explosions, dissolving acid, and a plunger.
Our most significant build for Hawkeye was the CG recreation of the Manhattan Bridge, based on lidar scans and reference footage of the original, detailed down to its nuts and bolts. We also created CG buildings and matte painted the cityscape of New York City in 2.5D on the far side of the bridge, before adding subtle details like the snow and reflections of the bridge onto the cars to bring the scene to life.
