He has been part of the Wētā FX team since 2002, contributing to landmark projects that have helped define the company.
Marvyn began his career at Mill & Mill Film in London as an offline editor before returning to New Zealand and joining Wētā FX as a Production Coordinator on The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. From there, he progressed through production roles, working across some of Wētā’s high profile projects, including The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, King Kong, and James Cameron’s Avatar.
His extensive producing credits span a diverse range of large-scale visual effects productions, from Middle-earth and Pandora to some of Marvel Studios’ biggest cinematic events. As a Visual Effects Producer, Marvyn has overseen Wētā FX’s work on films including Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow, Eternals, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, collaborating with filmmakers and artists to deliver complex sequences.
Known for his calm leadership, production expertise, and ability to manage large-scale creative pipelines, Marvyn has helped guide many teams, and mentor production crew through demanding projects, such as The Hobbit trilogy, Independence Day: Resurgence, X-Men: First Class, and Prometheus.
His work has been nominated four times for a Hollywood Professional Association Award and was on the winning ticket for Avengers: Infinity War.
Marvyn continues to bring extensive production knowledge, and creative problem-solving with a steady hand to Wētā FX.
