Her role involves creative planning, filming or studying video reference, working with motion capture, keyframe animating, as well as collaborating with supervisors to bring ideas to life. Anneka studied at Massey University, Wellington and graduated with Bachelor of Design in 2005. After University she began her animation career at Weta Productions working on the children’s TV show Jane and the Dragon and later The Wot Wots. Between those shows she freelanced at various small studios doing generalist work and animation on TV shows, commercials and documentaries.
Anneka joined Weta Digital in early 2011 to work on X-Men: First Class. Since then she has worked on The Hobbit trilogy, the Planet of the Apes trilogy, The Adventures of Tintin, and Pete's Dragon to name a few. She is currently working on Alita: Battle Angel as a Lead Animator. Anneka loves that animation combines so many things she enjoys – art and design, problem solving and studying nature to gain inspiration. She enjoys the creativity and challenge involved in making motion that’s visually appealing, natural and alive.
